I be making a dress...

MY PATTERN BOOK

I have had this book for quite a while now, Girls World by Jennifer Paganelli.  (click here to read a review)

I have been quite nervous about actually attempting any of the lovely things in it... until now.

The dress I have chosen is called the Mary's Fancy Sash Dress.

THE CHOSEN DRESS

It is going quite well so far, I have traced the pattern, chosen my fabric and cut the pattern pieces.  My daughter is very excited and impatient for me to get on with it!

I'm off now to do some of the sewing bit (the best part!) and will update my blog with my progress!

Works in progress...

I seem to have unfinished bits and pieces everywhere...

The dressmaking course I started is going very well, and the skirt itself is almost finished.  I am quite proud that I have learned to top sew - IN A STRAIGHT LINE! And finished a hem with some bias tape *proud moment*!

My quilted throw has stalled, the free motion embroidery is taking aaaaaages, plus not helped by the fact I had to unpick a load of it, as I had sewn part of the backing that had folded back on itself.. grrrr...

But on the PLUS side, I have been working on some lovely mirrors I found at a car boot fair.  They looked a bit sad, to say the least, so they have been given a make-over, and I love them!

My next post is going to include the pictures of my FINISHED items.  (Always helps to give yourself a deadline!)

Bit of this, bit of that...

Been feeling really rough this week, so although I had started (what I thought) would be a very quick quilted-throw for the living room, is turning out to be anything but!

Squares sewn together, yet to be sewn to wadding and back.
Instead of the 'stitch in the ditch' technique, I decided to have a go at some free motion quilting instead (hence the time it's taking).  I am enjoying how it's looking (see below) but I am finding it quite a strain on the old domestic machine!

Come on, you lovely Singer, you can do it!!

Also, I have started a sketch that I am hoping to turn in to something more... just need a few more hours in the day, please!!
